Introduction

This one-day instructor led course is designed to give delegates the ability to analyse data in a variety of ways. By the end of the course delegates will be able to use the built in Excel tools to compare data and create projections and also to understand and use the macro facility of Excel.

Course Objectives

  • Develop solutions to “What if?” scenarios
  • Verify calculations and trace errors using the auditing facility
  • Automate routine tasks with macros

Pre-requisites

This course is designed for experienced Excel users who have completed the Excel Intermediate course or have equivalent knowledge. Delegates should already be able to create detailed worksheets using complex formulas and should also be familiar with absolute cell references and conditional functions.

  • Review of Excel day to day features

Advanced Formulae

  • Partial absolute cell references
  • Applying data validation to cells with input text and error messages
  • Nesting OR & AND functions within IFs
  • Use of IFERROR function to remove #N/A from VLOOKUP results

Analytical Tools and Auditing

  • Using Goal seek and Solver
  • Creating Scenarios
  • Tracing Precedents/Dependents
  • Checking for errors

     Pivot Tables & Charts    

  • Creating and rearranging pivot table
  • Adding multiple data values
  • Formatting pivot tables and creating Slicers
  • Creating pivot charts
